glock 29sf review

Glock 29sf Review - This short review article is about evaluating the Glock 10mm Mini-Compact Automatic Pistol (Mini-Glock) for off-road use. For many, the chances of being attacked by an armed attacker are slim. I still carry a gun every day and have done so for most of my adult life. We all know that the chances of having problems with bears, cougars or wild boars are also very small. Still, I've never been less prepared to survive an encounter when entering a wildlife habitat. Stim spray, verbal weapons, and firearms are tools I consider and carry in urban and remote areas.

Trail sites can mean different things on different accounts. To name a few, the types of animals that might be found, where they might be seen (state parks, national parks, national forests, private property), the types of weapons you can reasonably carry (open or concealed), the weight or weight to carry The weapon you're willing to take, and whether you're willing to combine the popular high-efficiency caliber with the portability/concealment of reduced weight.

For example, when I was hunting in Alaska, I usually had no problem carrying a .44 Remington Magnum or larger revolver (.454 Casull, .480 Ruger, .500 S&W Magnum). If I was hunting with my .375 H&H or larger, I would probably lean towards the .44 Magnum. When I was training in the California mountains, I felt like I didn't always want the extra weight of a revolver and spare quickloader or the associated concealment issues in certain positions. To me, a 10mm chambered firearm seems like an excellent choice for these needs.

When considering the 10mm, many will opt for a longer barrel if possible, such as a Glock 20 over a Glock 29. They still really like the idea when you consider the minimal difference in fps and the relative difference in energy foot pounds. 10mm subminiature (Glock 29) to reduce weight and conceal the weapon.

Besides the efficiency of getting every drop out of the cartridge based on barrel length, there are other factors we mentioned earlier. I've seen a lot of dangerous game with big volume calibers above .375 H&H with little success. This reinforces that hitting position is key. While ballistic performance will provide the desired level of penetration, hit position is most important.

Over the years, we have had the privilege of serving as consultant evaluators for various manufacturers of firearms and shooting related products. We're interested in taking a look at the Glock 29 SF Gen 3 to see how or if it can meet our tracking needs as well as reliability while providing an Underwood Ammunition diet.

Our trip started with a first trip in the mountains to get used to each other. We shot the Underwood Ammo 200 grain coated Hard Cast Flat Nose (trail use ammo), the Underwood Ammo 200 grain Full Metal Jacket (long-range ammo), the Sig Sauer Elite Performance V-Crown 180 grain JHP (personal defense home ammo) and the Sig Sauer Elite Performance 180 Grain Full Metal Case (Range Ammo).

From a test use functionality standpoint, we were primarily interested in evaluating the Underwood 200 Grain Hi-Tek Coated Hardcast Flathead ammunition in this gun. We also wanted to shoot the Underwood Ammo 200 hard cast and full metal casing with the Sig Sauer JHP and full metal casing as a combination carry and range ammo.

The range meeting is complete and the target range is expected to use defensive tail guns. All target speed simulations were fired at 7, 5 and 3 meters. Total round count is 140 rounds, including stock barrel, 21 lb heavy duty spring loaded tungsten guide, and ammo combinations listed above (Underwood Ammo 200 grain Coated Hard Cast Flat Nose, Underwood Ammo 200 grain Full Metal Jacket, Sig Sauer Elite Performance V - Crown 180 grain JHP and Sig Sauer Elite Performance 180 grain Full Metal Jacket).

We made some changes to the stock pistol for our first range training, adding a Beavertail grip adapter, a ten-round Glock 20 X-Grip mag, and a stock 10-round Glock 29 Pearce Grip Extension. These changes found no problems.

The Beavertail Grip Adapter is comfortable enough to allow the grip to go up without worrying about slipping bites. X-grip and Pearce Grip Extension provide excellent gun control and shooting comfort. Whether your application calls for a standard capacity magazine (15 rounds) or you prefer a longer 10 round magazine, the X-Grip is a great choice. If you prefer to use the shorter factory Glock 29 ten-round magazines, the Pearce Grip is for you.

Didn't find any issues with the timing of the sliders with the heavier replacement springs. We have had no fail to feed (FTF) or eject (FTE) issues. It fires ammo brilliantly, I only caused one fly due to poor sight alignment and trigger control on the speed rig. No ammo fault.

There are different routes to carry different weapons for different areas and situations. Each has its own application and unique advantages. We were particularly interested to see if the Glock 29 SF Gen 3 would work in one of our applications and if it could reliably feed the rugged Underwood ammunition.

Our second range session involved adding a standard length KKM Precision barrel and firing it to ensure functionality. On the KKM Precision website, KKM barrels are made using certified 416R barrel quality stainless steel rods. The barrel is heat treated and vacuum tempered to 42 RC. The barrel is CNC machined to fit the dimensional tolerances of stock. Thanks to its proprietary button rifling process, KKM barrels offer higher precision than regular barrels.

Glock rifles use polygons in their barrels. Glock warns/recommends against shooting buckshot as they cause buckshot to build up in the rifle style. This of course raises security concerns. I'm not going to shoot pure lead bullets, but hard bullets like Underwood. From what I've read in my research, hard shot bullets of the right size and well lubricated usually don't cause serious contamination. Still, I prefer to use aftermarket barrels that completely eliminate this concern. Plus, match-grade replacement barrels help improve accuracy. KKM Precision Glock barrels fully support SAAMI spec matching chambers. This allows firing factory or reloaded ammunition as well as buckshot or jacketed bullets.

Review] Glock 20: Best 10mm Out There?

Our Glock's KKM barrel is the right entry. When we originally ordered our barrels from KKM we explained our purpose and application. We requested that the feed ramp be replaced for an oversized load. KKM is happy to accept orders free of charge. KKM tells us that this change will sacrifice approximately 1-1.5% of the Chamber's support, but will still be considered a fully supported Chamber.

For our second range visit, we planned to shoot 100 rounds on fast static targets from 7 yards and loaded targets from 12 to 3 yards. We decided to use bear targets in Alaska State Parks.

Our payload targets are limited to the recovery speed of internal target systems, so they're not slow, but they're not super fast either. However, we were reminded of the difficulty of accurately hitting moving targets, even in flat terrain. In considering a firearm for defensive use, the need for target movement/loading practice while at the range should not be overlooked.

In the second range test, there were no issues with the slide timing when using the heavier replacement spring with the KKM Precision barrel. We have had no fail to feed (FTF) or eject (FTE) issues.

After my first two range sessions, I decided that additional modifications to our weapons would be beneficial. The stock Glock sights don't quite meet my needs. I decided to use the Trijicon HD night vision goggles (model GL104O) with the orange front outline. These sights are also available in the yellow outline front sight model (GL104Y). I use the orange outline versions on a couple of my carry guns and find they work well on my eyes. Both versions offer the added benefit of three green dot tritium inserts for low light or night shooting. Another advantage of these metal sights is that the front face of the rear sight is beveled. This allows the slide of the pistol to be operated with one hand in an emergency. This is done by hooking
